Pricing

How do you determine the difference between the Custom Bridal Wear that WC provides and Off the Rack and Made to Order dresses found elsewhere?

'Off the Rack' applies to the dresses you'll see at a chain bridal store. They are mass produced and ready made in a factory in standard sizing and are usually made of synthetic fabrics. They may have machined lace, beading or other embellishments but are not the same as fine hand sewn details.

Your next general category is 'Made to Order'. In this category you would be able to find a previously designed, designer dress, that is made when you order and sized to fit you. Usually alterations in this category can be made for additional costs. Exterior fabrics should be natural and not synthetic and laces and embellishments will be hand sewn.

WC will be custom designing your dress with you.
Rather than a standard design that can or can not be modified, you will be able to create your perfect dress from start to finish. This process includes the design & guidance, mock-up, fitting and creation of your completely personal and custom dress. Using natural exterior fibers and all hand sewn embellishments, it is our incredible honor to help you create a dress that will be one of a kind and no less than coveted on your biggest day. Custom Bridal Corsetry Budgets start at $2,800 for unadorned basic silhouettes and fabrics, $3,600 with laces and embellishments.

Timeline

It is recommended that you begin your email consultation 14-16 months or more in advance. When you are ready to proceed you may submit the form on the Begin a Consultation page.

Once your consult submission is received a response will be made within a couple days regarding your measurements and options along with answers to any questions you may have in order to create a sketch of the design. At this time you may attach pictures or inspirations for your gown to help build an idea of your style and preferences. WC does not create reproductions, references can only be used for inspiration purposes only.

Once your dress has been sketched and finalized a non-refundable deposit of 50% is then due, this deposit must be made no later than 11 months prior to your due date.

Next, a muslin mockup will be made of your dress to be sent out through the mail for fitting. This is a rough draft version of your dress in a muslin fabric to check the fit. Multiple mockups may be sent when necessary to provide the option to alter fit or style within reason. This is the time that you will want to have your shoes and underpieces to be worn under the toile for proper fitting.

4 months before the due date you will be required to pay the additional 50% of the total cost.

As the process of creating your dress progresses you will be contacted as needed.

Additional Options

Crinolines/Petticoats
If you desire a full skirt you will want a crinoline petticoat underneath. We do not build these into the dress to allow versatility of wear but rather offer them as a separate piece when desired.

Shrugs and Boleros
Generally a cropped, sleeved or sleeveless jacket that can be made out of sheer laces or solid fabrics.

Shawls & Wraps
Usually a rectangular or square piece of fabric loosely worn over the shoulders, upper body and arms.

Capelets
A small cape, usually to the waist or hips, covering the shoulders.
